Remember the summer days as a kid when you would head to your local basketball court to go bust some @&%? Man, it seems like once social media blew up and everyone became a skater, pick up basketball or street ball sort of died down a little. Luckily, millions around the world keep street ball alive with NYC leading the pack. With that being said, those of you that frequent DeFY. New York know that we have actively supported two Kickstarter projects that went on to fund (Remyxx aka Re-kixx & ANI) and here we are again, this time with one of the ambassadors to street ball, the man himself mr. Bobbito Garcia & Director Kevin Couliau.
The project? an independent documentary titled Doin’ It In The Park. The film explores the definition, history, culture, and social impact of New Yorks summer b-ball scene.
With the film already screened across the world and having went on to win the Audience Award for Best Feature at the Urbanworld Film Festival this past September, Bob and Kevin’s next goal is to do an independent commercial release for spring of 2013. This is where we come in. With a pledge, whether it be a dollar or 5 grand you can help pay for:
-remaining music license fees
-artwork/poster
-the costs to create/market/promote/advertise their own theatrical bookings
-production costs for DVD/Blu-Ray mastering/manufacturing
Pledge enough and you could win the opportunity to have your ankles cracked…I mean play ball against Bobbito & Kevin. For more info on what your pledge will get you head on over to the Doin’ It In The Park Kickstarter page and make sure to follow them on FACEBOOK as well as their site Doinitinthepark.com.
